This is a great drill you should be able to do in most indoor ranges it will help you practicing failure to fire with tap rack solution, mag changes and reacquiring Target, sight picture, sight alignment Etc.
This particular drill was for somebody that is right on top of you and may even be holding a gun to your lower back. As was seen on a recent video. In this drill you should focus on as you turn using your body to Shield or disguise the draw. This way the weapon comes […]
On this stage start with 3 rounds in the mag, and mag on the table, gun on the table with slide open, and as many loose rounds that you want on the table. Engage 3 targets from seated position. Here’s the hook, in order to avoid penalties targets have to have either one in the […]
One of the stages at Universal Shooting Academy’s Defensive Pistol League. 7-23-16. The stage made you shoot rather quickly. Don’t shoot the good guy in white.
In weapon disarms there is always speculation on holding the weapon when fired and whether or not it really works or if you will be injured in the process. I said I would demonstrate with a 50 cal and as promised, here it is. Because of the slide design the slide did move, but not […]
There are still some non believers. Grabbing the slide when firing a gun will prevent the weapon from cycling and it will not damage your hand. Of course your hand cannot cover the muzzle in any way. Yes this would include even a 45 cal. This is good to know in any weapon mid disarm […]
Running a rather old, stock Sig P-226, converted to double action only. Decided, rather spontaneously to head down to Universal Shooting Academy and do the steel challenge. This includes all 5 runs of this stage, including my misses. Still working on my speed vs. accuracy.
Another stage at Universal Shooting Academy’s Defensive Pistol League. These swingers kill me, even though this was the first time I did not get a penalty shooting them.
Using a taser in simulated knife defensive training can be a real eye opener and a shocking experience. Training at this level is voluntary and I seem to have no shortage of volunteers.
What the heck is Scenario Based Environmental Training? Well here is a small taste of what one might expect when attending. One thing for sure. Everyone comes away learning a thing or two. From the beginner to the experienced.
A brief description of a training barrel and its use. Not a whole lot to the thing, but it is a great training tool for safe manipulation especially with training partners.
Ha ha, this was fun and interesting. First it’s a bit disorienting being upside down and manipulating your firearm. Second I found that my Sig P226 wanted to slide lock even when there was a round in the magazine. Weird huh.
Multiple threat, start with car in gear and seat belt fastened. deal with threat through passenger front and rear windows, put vehicle in park and deal with the seat belt, then deal with 5 additional threats after exiting vehicle. oh and, don’t shoot your passenger or the car.
